Turkey, often described as a land “where even the soil is gold,” is among the top tourist destinations thanks to its many natural beauties and cultural structures. In our country, which consists of seven geographical regions, there are many popular destinations you can visit and see. One of these destinations is the Western Black Sea Region. In this region, there are many tourist spots you can visit, such as Sinop, Düzce, Bolu, and Zonguldak. You can easily reach these cities by purchasing a plane ticket or bus ticket. The Western Black Sea also offers visitors various tourist spots in terms of places to see and promises activities where they can have a pleasant time. In this region, full of both historical and natural beauties, you can have wonderful times and discover many untouched spots.
Transportation to the cities located in the Western Black Sea is also extremely easy. Depending on the city you are going to, you can buy a plane ticket from your location. Visitors who do not prefer air transportation can consider the intercity bus option and carry out their bus ticket purchase transactions. In addition, if you want to travel by stopping and exploring more spots, you can also set off with your own vehicle. The Western Black Sea has many important places, from its mountains to lakes, waterfalls to forests, historical structures to coasts. In this region, which has a different beauty in each of the four seasons, you can have an unforgettable holiday experience and collect beautiful memories together with your family or friends. We also recommend you bring your camera when coming to these regions.
You can come to the Western Black Sea at any time, regardless of summer or winter. However, if you have a plan to swim in the sea, you can choose the summer period and enjoy the deep blue sea. If possible, we recommend that you visit more than one city and closely discover the beauties worth seeing in these cities. Among the tourist spots you must see when you come to the Western Black Sea Region are Abant Lake-Bolu, Yedigöller-Bolu, Mining Museum-Zonguldak, Akçakoca-Düzce, Safranbolu-Karabük, Clock Tower-Kastamonu, Erfelek Waterfalls-Sinop and Sinop Port-Sinop. At the top of our list of places to see in the Western Black Sea is Abant Lake, which welcomes its visitors with its lush green nature.
Located at an average distance of 35 kilometers from Bolu city center, this lake has a wonderful view. This lake, which is one of the tourist spots frequently visited by local and foreign tourists, is a place where you can have a picnic with your family, go for a walk to explore the surroundings, and spend peaceful hours. A delightful day awaits you accompanied by a magnificent lake view.

After visiting Abant Lake, another spot you should not return without seeing is Yedigöller, also located in Bolu.
As the name suggests, in this natural wonder area consisting of seven lakes, you can have pleasant times, take lots of photos of the lake view, and sit and rest against this unique landscape. Here, you also have the opportunity to camp. If you wish, you can pitch your tent and stay overnight. You can also reach here by buying a bus ticket other than your own vehicle.
Mining Museum-Zonguldak
After your visit to Bolu, you can turn your route to Zonguldak, which has made a name for itself with coal mining.
When it comes to Zonguldak, the first destination to visit is the Mining Museum. Open to visitors since 2016, this museum is also Turkey’s first and only hard coal museum. Here, you can learn many details about coal mining, closely examine the mine galleries, and have a cultural travel experience.
Akçakoca-Düzce
Another tourist route on our list of places to see in the Western Black Sea is the Akçakoca district, which is a district of our city of Düzce.
You can easily come to this district by buying a bus ticket other than your private vehicle. In the Akçakoca district, there are many cultural values and natural beauty areas waiting to be discovered. The first place you should see here is Fakıllı Cave, which fascinates visitors with its stalagmites, stalactites, and dripstones. From here, you can go to Kurugöl Canyon and then to Aktaş Waterfall and have a picnic with your loved ones in these areas.
If possible, we recommend that you stay here for a few days. Akçakoca’s historical structures are also quite famous as well as its natural beauties. You can also visit many cultural structures such as Evliya Mosque, Historical Orhangazi Primary School, and Hemşin Village Mosque.
Safranbolu-Karabük
Another place you should visit during your Western Black Sea discovery tour is the Safranbolu district of Karabük. This place has great importance in terms of tourism.
For faster transportation here, you can prefer air travel. However, since there is no airport in the region, you should first buy a plane ticket to Kastamonu, then go to Kastamonu Bus Terminal with buses, and then take the Safranbolu buses from there. When you come to Safranbolu, the first place you should see is the Safranbolu Houses, which stand out with their historical texture.
Then you can visit the Historical Clock Tower, City History Museum, Tokatlı Canyon, İncekaya Canyon, and Sarıçiçek Plateau and spend pleasant hours with your group of friends or family.
Clock Tower-Kastamonu
Another tourist spot you should visit on your Western Black Sea trip is the Clock Tower located in our city of Kastamonu, which stands out with its interesting story.
According to the story about this clock tower, its clock rang at a time when it shouldn’t have, and upon this, a concubine who was pregnant lost her child out of fear. After this tragic incident, the clock was exiled, hence it is called the Exiled Clock. After this clock tower, we also recommend visiting the monument of Şerife Bacı, whose name is mentioned among the heroines of the War of Independence.
Erfelek Waterfalls-Sinop
Another stop on our list of places to see in the Western Black Sea is the Erfelek Waterfalls, which attract attention with their natural beauties and are located in our city of Sinop.
Apart from your own vehicle, you can also buy a plane ticket for faster access and have an enjoyable flight trip. Located in the Erfelek district of Sinop, these waterfalls consist of a total of 28 waterfalls. Here, you can have a picnic with your group of friends, watch the waterfall view, and capture beautiful photo frames.
Sinop Port-Sinop
Before finishing your Western Black Sea tour, we also recommend stopping by Sinop Port, which is again located in our city of Sinop.
This port, which is among the ports worth seeing in our country, is a place where you can go for a pleasant walk along the port. After your walk, you can go to the restaurants located along the port to rest a bit and have something to eat and drink.
